As part of an effective BCM plan it is essential to have effective procedures that relate to specific crisis types e.g. fire, flood, loss of key supplier, avian flu, etc. The first step is therefore to identify the likely crises that you should develop procedures for.
Brainstorming meeting:
An RQA consultant will facilitate a brainstorming session with a number of personnel from different areas of your business. This may include technical, engineering, sales, IT, procurement, HR etc. The purpose of the session is to compile the risk profile of typically 5 - 12 crises that may impact the company and classify them according to probability and severity.
Development of procedures:
For each of the crises identified above, RQA will assist with the development of draft procedures. Each procedure will be in simple format and designed so that it is a practical tool including notification, escalation, information, assessment and action plan. The procedures will be presented to the client for review and finalisation.
Self Assessment
A self assessment questionnaire can be developed to help each location to assess their exposure to the specific crises and how effective their existing risk management procedures are. This is a scored system that can form part of an annual review process.
