A company in Australia has issued a recall on a girls fleece top in which the low fire hazard label has been incorrectly positioned as required by law. Customers, therefore, may not be aware of the fire hazard rating on the garment. The company has asked that all customers who have purchased this item should return it for a full refund.

Imported from Taiwan, the puzzle mat contains small parts that could be swallowed by a child therefore posing a risk of choking. The product does not comply with the Toys Directive and with the relevant European Standard EN 71. The company has voluntarily withdrawn the product from the market.

Women's trousers being sold in Germany are being recalled because they do not comply with the REACH Regulation (Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals). The product is imported from China and contains azo dyes which may release carcinogenic amines, posing a chemical risk to the consumer. The importers are voluntarily withdrawing the product from the market and have issued a recall from consumers.

The visibility of the reflectors on this product is not sufficient to be regarded as a safe visibility accessory due to the results of the retroreflection being so low. The product has been withdrawn from the market as it does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment Directive or the relevant European standard EN 13356.

One of the press fasteners of the liner of a folding bath for children has been discovered to be easily detachable therefore posing a choking hazard to small children. The product, sold in France but imported from China, does not comply with the national standard XP S 54-044 and has been withdrawn from the market, as well as a voluntary recall from consumers by the manufacturer.

Yachting life rafts imported from China are being recalled after it was discovered that, during use, the rafts lose a small amount of pressure. This loss of pressure could result in the overall buoyancy being affected and pose a risk of drowning. The importers in England have issued a voluntary recall from consumers.

A Canadian-made wireless video baby monitor has been found to pose a burn hazard to consumers due to the camera portion of the monitors overheating and smoking.
Two incidents have already been reported (neither incident resulted in injury) and consumers are asked to report any further incidents. The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a voluntary recall of the baby monitors resulting in either a full refund or replacement of the product for a different model.

A certain model of a toy rattle imported from China has been found to pose a safety hazard to children due to the manufacturing of the product. The rattle can easily crack into small parts that could be swallowed by children, there are hard plastic edges which could cause cuts and the handle protrudes too much. The product does not comply with the Toys Directive or with the relevant European standard EN 71 and therefore has been withdrawn from the market and a sales ban has been placed on the specific model of rattle.

Certain models of ski boots sold in France are being recalled due a problem found that could potentially cause injury. When used with "low tech" ski touring bindings, there is a risk of a certain element of the boot not fitting securely and therefore creating a possibility of the skier to fall. The manufacturer, from Romania, has taken the action of a voluntary withdrawal and a recall from the consumers. One accident has been reported.

Buttons imported from the Czech Republic are being recalled in Germany because they release nickel which is a skin sensitiser and could cause a chemical reaction. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation. There has been a voluntary recall from consumers issued by the manufacturer as noted on the Europa Consumer Affairs website.

Product: Charger for ipod and iphone

A company is recalling chargers for ipods and iphones that were sold on E-bay due to the possibility that one of the plug units does not conform to some of the BS1363 standards (The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994). Due to the possible safety hazard all consumers having purchased this item are asked to return the item and receive a full refund.

A company in Canada, along with Health Canada and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, are recalling a figurine which is part of a playset aimed for children aged 2-5 years old. The risk is posed by the fact that the figurine can break at the waist, exposing children to small parts that pose a choking hazard. There has been one incident reported in Canada and 7 in the US of the figure breaking but no injuries have been reported. A British manufacturer is voluntarily withdrawing its product from the market due to a risk of fire. The product has been tested and it can easily ignite when its fabrics are exposed to a small flame such as a burning match. The product does not comply with the relevant national standard BS 5852. The upper material and the inner fabric lining of the straps contain 0.38 mg/kg of dimethylfumarate (DMF). This substance has direct skin contact and poses a health hazard to the users. Any products containing dimethylfumarate are banned according to Commission Decision 2009/251/EC. A major food manufacturer has recalled its Healthy choice Apricot Chicken ready meals across New South Wales, Victoria and Capital territory in Australia. The product has been recalled due to contamination with bacillus cereus. Bacillus cereus is responsible for a minority of foodborne illnesses, causing severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Consumers were advised to return the affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

A major investigation by US authorities into illnesses caused by Salmonella Typhimurium has identified products from a peanut processing company as the source of the outbreak. More than 2,100 products in 17 categories have been voluntarily recalled by more than 200 companies, and the list continues to grow. The US FDA urges consumers to check their web site for the latest list of recalled products, which now also includes pet foods.

A global ice cream brand recalled certain batches of its low fat chocolate ice cream product distributed in Ireland after the product had been inadvertently packed in Dutch packaging. The ingredients list therefore did not appear in English. Some consumers may therefore consume the product being unaware of the contents. This creates a potential health risk for people who are sensitive to egg, milk, soya or gluten. The product was withdrawn and recall notices were displayed in stores and local newspapers.

The company has recalled the affected batch from sale and product recall notices were placed in retail stores. These notices alert customers to the recall and advise them of what actions to take if they purchased the product.

A German cheese distributor has recalled two varieties of Gorgonzola produced in Italy due to suspected contamination with Listeria. Consumers were advised to return the product or destroy it. In healthy adults, Listeria will exhibit mild symptoms of gastroenteritis or flu-like symptoms. However, it can occasionally lead to severe blood poisoning or meningitis. The elderly, pregnant women and newborns are especially susceptible.
